Change Your Mind, Change Your Weight – Kathleen Martin

Kathleen Martin

Change Your Mind, Change Your Weight

All change starts with a thought. We live in a time when we now know that what you are experiencing is as a result of the thoughts you think consistently. This means that to change your life, and that includes your body and your weight, you must first change your mind. Your weight is not because of what you are doing, it is a result of the thoughts you are thinking over and over that lead to what you are doing. Change your thoughts and your weight will change.

This is why most don’t experience the results that last when they decide that it’s time to get real about their weight and health that is related to it. Most approaches put the emphasis on what you are doing that they say is causing you to be overweight and have you begin to do something different. This is not going to work because all change must happen first at the level of the mind. The body follows the mind.

For example, if you eat the same things everyday that you know are contributing to how much you weigh, you have created an unconscious pattern of thinking that causes you to make the same food choices. When you make the pattern conscious, you can begin to change the pattern and break it. The number one way is to question your choices. You can begin to ask important questions such as ‘why am I eating this?’ ‘Is this choice going to take me closer to my ideal weight or further away?’ How am I going to feel after I eat this? Will I feel good about myself or will I feel ie: shame, disappointment, discouragement, unworthiness etc.’

When you take this important step, you are sending the message to yourself that you care. You are taking the time to pay attention to yourself. You are getting involved at the level of the mind are doing something different that can begin to break the habit of eating for the wrong reasons including feeling bad about yourself, feeling unsafe, feeling guilt or shame. You will begin to feel a sense of connection with the part of you that supports you and never feels any of those bad feelings about you.

Take this simple step to begin to create the new thought patterns that will create the fit body and the level of health you want.
